Muni's Celebratory Day! :)

The long awaited STPU (Upper 6 Arabic exams) results are out today and Alhamdulillah, my sister managed to come out of it with flying colours! :D She has obtained an overall Pangkat "Mumtaz" which stands for "Cemerlang" or Excellent! From her results breakdown, she managed to get "Mumtaz" (Cemerlang) for 6 subjects and "Jaid Jiddan" (Sangat Baik) for 2 subjects. We are very proud of you Mun!! and We love you very much!! :D Thus to celebrate, we had an early dinner at Ahan Thai. Once we get home, we surprised her with a "Congratulations" vanilla ice cream cake, hehe. Below are some piccies. :)

Congrats Mun! :)

Khatam Al-Quran ceremony

Today, I attended a small Khatam Al-Quran ceremony organised by the EDP participants held at the UBD mosque. The Khatam Al-Quran ceremony began at 11am, which was then followed by mass Zuhur prayers and lunch at the mosque vicinity. The customary 'bunga telur' was given to the attendees and participants. A Wakaf of vacuum cleaner and 2 carpets were given to the mosque.

Fireflies ♥

Owl City
Source: fanpop.com

I stumbled across this song today and fell in love with it! There is also another Owl City song that I love (which I also came across today) and I'm having a hard time deciding on which one to play here hehe. I think I'll play the other song another time. :)

Fireflies by Owl City

You would not believe your eyes
If ten million fireflies

Lit up the world as I fell asleep

Cause they fill the open air

And leave teardrops everywhere

You'd think me rude, but I

Would just stand and stare

I'd like to make myself believe

That planet Earth turns slowly.

It's hard to say that I'd

Rather stay awake when I'm asleep

Cause everything is never as it seems

Cause I'd get a thousand hugs

From ten thousand lightening bugs

As they tried to teach me how to dance.

A foxtrot above by head

A sock-hop beneath the bed

The disco ball is just hanging by a thread

I'd like to make myself believe

That planet Earth turns slowly.

It's hard to say that I'd

Rather stay awake when I'm asleep

Cause everything is never as it seems

(When I fall asleep)

Leave my door open just a crack.

(Please take me away from here)

Cause I feel like such an insomniac

(Please take me away from here)

Why do I tire of counting sheep?

(Please take me away from here)

When I'm far too tired to fall asleep

To ten million fireflies

I'm weird, cause I hate goodbyes

I got misty eyes as they said farewell

But I'll know where several are

If my dreams get real bizarre

Cause I saved a few

And I keep them in a jar

I'd like to make myself believe

That planet Earth turns slowly.

It's hard to say that I'd

Rather stay awake when I'm asleep

Cause everything is never as it seems

(When I fall asleep)

I'd like to make myself believe

That planet Earth turns slowly

It's hard to say that I'd

Rather stay awake when I'm asleep

Because my dreams are bursting at the seams

This is such as awesome song. As usual, this is playing in the music box at the moment, you know the drill, hehe.

A Night Cruise Dinner

Ships Ahoy! :D

Hi all! How is everybody doing? I hope all is well with everyone. I have been sort of a social butterfly lately with all the activities that is happening right now hehe. As part of work, I have been invited to attend a Cruise Dinner organised by the participants of the EDP programme, last night. This is my first time having dinner on a ship. Having munchies and junk food during trips to Labuan does not count here, haha.

Anyway, so I set off early in the evening to UBD, where I waited for Dr Diana & Dr Sophiana, since we have decided to go together in one car. I left the car near the security post at the main entrance. We set off to Serasa and arrived at around 7pm at Jabatan Laut. We then boarded the Tanjung Bakarang and set sail from Serasa to Bandar while enjoying a large variety of dinner buffet on deck. We were able to enjoy the night time views outside as we sailed along the river. The water was less choppy and we moved slowly and smoothly. The cruise took about 3 hours. Eventually we made it back to Serasa at 10:30pm. I have to say that it was such a great experience and a fun night! :)

A Day at the DST Carnival! :)

Yesterday, Rahmat, Fathmee and myself went to the DST Carnival. We went to park the car at UBD, near the bus shuttle service. We arrived at 4pm, and waited for 20 minutes in line for our turn to board the bus that will be taking us to the carnival.

The bus shuttle service provided at UBD

Me and Fathma, while waiting in line

4:20pm, finally we board the bus! :)

Once we arrived at the carnival, we went into the main DST building to fill in questionaires that will entitle us to join in lucky draws conducted throughout the day. Once we submitted our answers and forms, we were given free fans and wrist bands. Then we ventured out to explore the carnival. There was quite a crowd.

Filling out forms and questionaires, getting our free fans and wrist bands! :)

Our first stop was the Reptile House. I should mention here that most of the entertainment and funfair games/activities were free. While waiting on the queue outside, we went to see the displays outside the Reptile House.

An enormous python in a cage outside the reptile house!

The Mexican Red Knee Tarantula

A few displays outside, which included snakes & tortoises

Just before going in :)

Inside the Reptile House: Leucistic Ratsnake

American Milksnake. This somehow reminded me of pills, heehee

Other snakes in cages

An enormous snake for petting! I wouldn't go near it though. Just looking at its scaly skin gives me the hibbie jibbies! :P

Now talk about the daredevils! Hahaha! Rahmat and Fathma 'petting' the huge snake. I salute both of you for your bravery! :P

Fathmee 'cooing' to the snake, LOL :D

Next, we walked around the area to check out the flying fox, rock climbing area, basketball shooting and the pony/horse ride. I actually wanted to go on the horse ride, but unfortunately it was too late. We cannot join in the queue any longer as it was fast approaching 6pm, which is the closing time for the horse ride. But we managed to take some pics.

Where we played basketball shooting :)

Horsies! :)

Say cheese! :P

After that, we were starting to feel hungry, so we decided to fill in our tummies and find a spot on the hilly grass.

Buying food!

While queing to buy burgers..

Snacking on the hill side! :P

A little picnic, hehe

After our snack, we decided to head to the lucky draw area, before going to the main DST building to go on their sky tour to the top floor. Apparently, it is the 2nd tallest building in Brunei. The air was definitely cooler at the top and we were guided around the floor by a friendly tour guide. He pointed out that we can actually see the island of Labuan in the distance from up there! That was cool, hehe. And as usual more pics were taken, teehee! :P

On the 12th floor of the building, gazing at the view on the balcony

The signal up there is too high so we needed a humongous phone! "Hello, anybody there?" Heehee *jokes*

The view outside and in the lift

After the tour, we headed to the stage area for another round of lucky draw, followed by a segment by espn presenters Jamie Yeo and Henry Golding, which included football trivias and quizzes, much to the cheer of the crowd.

Eventually we left the carnival and waited for the shuttle bus to bring us back to the car park at close to 9pm. We spent almost 5 hours at the carnival which is quite a record! haha. Overall, it was a fun filled day. Fathma is leaving Brunei for the Philippines today. Bon Voyage Fathmee and do come visit us again! :)

Shing's Housewarming Party + Fireworks

Last night we had a get together with our x-biomedical science friends at Shing's house in Muara. Almost everybody was there with the exception of Nab, Sa'dy and Haz who had different commitments last night. Fathma is also in Brunei right now on holiday with her family. We were invited to Shing's housewarming party which provided a chance for all of us to catch up with each other. I went to pick up Fathma then Ayun, before we went to Syimah's to convoy. Below are some piccies from our get together last night. :)

Nyummy brownies! :p

After the housewarming party, we were then on our way home. On our way to send Fathmee home, Ayun, Fathma and I decided to stop near the road side for a while to see the firework displays which were coincidentally taking place at the DST carnival. A lot of cars stopped at the roadsides and the freeway to witness the fireworks, although it was still raining at that time.

Fireworks! :)

The Last Day of the V-Sigma Workshop

Today is the last day of the V-Sigma workshop. After morning and afternoon sessions, there was a closing ceremony held as well as certificate presentation for all the participants of the workshop. I feel that I have gained much from the workshop. After the financial management module that I mentioned previously, we had 2 other modules to cover which included Strategic Negotiation skills and Executive Legal skills for the second half of the workshop. There was a lot of role playing involved in the negotiation module that we did and so on. I've met some of my old x-Maktab Sains school mates as well as a former MS teacher who were also participating in the workshop. It was a fruitful experience and I hope that the skills and new knowledge that I have gotten from the workshop will find its useful application in the future. :)

Below are some piccies from the second half of the workshop.

I just want to be ok

Ingrid Michaelson
Ingrid Michaelson
Source: fanpop.com

This is such a positive song, I love it! :) Just know that there is always a silver lining for any negative things that happened in our life. There are some rough days while some are good days. In the end, we just need to be positive that we will be okay! :D

Be Ok by Ingrid Michaelson

I just want to be ok, be ok, be ok

I just want to be ok today

I just want to be ok, be ok, be ok

I just want to be ok today

I just want to feel today, feel today, feel today

I just want to feel something today

I just want to feel today, feel today, feel today

I just want to feel something today

Open me up and you will see

I'm a gallery of broken hearts

I'm beyond repair, let me be

And give me back my broken parts

I just want to know today, know today, know today

I just want to know something today

I just want to know today, know today, know today

Know that maybe I will be ok

Open me up and you will see

I'm a gallery of broken hearts

I'm beyond repair, let me be

And give me back my broken parts

Just give me back my pieces,

Just give them back to me please

Just give me back my pieces,

And let me hold my broken parts

I just want to be ok, be ok, be ok

I just want to be ok today

I just want to be ok, be ok, be ok

I just want to be ok today

I just want to feel today, feel today, feel today

I just want to feel something today

I just want to know today, know today, know today

Know that maybe I will be ok

Know that maybe I will be ok

Know that maybe I will be ok
