Yesterday,
Rahmat,
Fathmee and myself went to the
DST Carnival. We went to park the car at UBD, near the bus shuttle service. We arrived at 4pm, and waited for 20 minutes in line for our turn to board the bus that will be taking us to the carnival.

4:20pm, finally we board the bus! :)Once we arrived at the carnival, we went into the main DST building to fill in questionaires that will entitle us to join in lucky draws conducted throughout the day. Once we submitted our answers and forms, we were given free fans and wrist bands. Then we ventured out to explore the carnival. There was quite a crowd.
Filling out forms and questionaires, getting our free fans and wrist bands! :)Our first stop was the Reptile House. I should mention here that most of the entertainment and funfair games/activities were free. While waiting on the queue outside, we went to see the displays outside the Reptile House.
An enormous python in a cage outside the reptile house!
The Mexican Red Knee Tarantula
A few displays outside, which included snakes & tortoises
Just before going in :)
Inside the Reptile House: Leucistic Ratsnake
American Milksnake. This somehow reminded me of pills, heehee
Other snakes in cages
An enormous snake for petting! I wouldn't go near it though. Just looking at its scaly skin gives me the hibbie jibbies! :P
Now talk about the daredevils! Hahaha! Rahmat and Fathma 'petting' the huge snake. I salute both of you for your bravery! :P
Fathmee 'cooing' to the snake, LOL :DNext, we walked around the area to check out the flying fox, rock climbing area, basketball shooting and the pony/horse ride. I actually wanted to go on the horse ride, but unfortunately it was too late. We cannot join in the queue any longer as it was fast approaching 6pm, which is the closing time for the horse ride. But we managed to take some pics.

Horsies! :)
Say cheese! :PAfter that, we were starting to feel hungry, so we decided to fill in our tummies and find a spot on the hilly grass.
Buying food!
While queing to buy burgers..
Snacking on the hill side! :P
A little picnic, heheAfter our snack, we decided to head to the lucky draw area, before going to the main DST building to go on their sky tour to the top floor. Apparently, it is the 2nd tallest building in Brunei. The air was definitely cooler at the top and we were guided around the floor by a friendly tour guide. He pointed out that we can actually see the island of Labuan in the distance from up there! That was cool, hehe. And as usual more pics were taken, teehee! :P

The signal up there is too high so we needed a humongous phone! "Hello, anybody there?" Heehee *jokes*
The view outside and in the liftAfter the tour, we headed to the stage area for another round of lucky draw, followed by a segment by espn presenters Jamie Yeo and Henry Golding, which included football trivias and quizzes, much to the cheer of the crowd.

Eventually we left the carnival and waited for the shuttle bus to bring us back to the car park at close to 9pm. We spent almost 5 hours at the carnival which is quite a record! haha. Overall, it was a fun filled day. Fathma is leaving Brunei for the Philippines today. Bon Voyage Fathmee and do come visit us again! :)
Til the next post!
